Marketing Wizard can be prevented from working due to network or firewall software blocking critical URLs and connections.

Background

In order for Marketing Wizard to work fully, it uses a technology called Server Side Events (SSE). This is an industry standard pattern that allows a server to send data to a user's web browser without needing to make a new connection from the browser to the server. It allows for faster ad-hoc and server initiated communications.

Some network security settings or firewall configurations can block these connections. We have observed this in particular with clients using the Netskope product.

If there are issues the user will likely experience the ability to submit a request to the Marketing Wizard but will not receive any response back. It will look as if the user if just waiting for the response.

These instructions will help you to ensure that Marketing Wizard continues to function as required.

Just the details

If you know what you are doing with your network / firewall software, then you just need to unblock the following URLs and ensure that a client's web browser access is not restricted to them:

*.legalgateway.com.au
*.legalautomation.com
*.plexus.co
*.amazonaws.com

Netskope specific details

Below are the steps taken to bypass the above listed URLs in Netskope. Remember that every organisation would have setup their Netskope differently.

There are three possible approaches to enable Marketing Wizard:

  1. Whitelisting the URLs

  2. Adding them under an SSL bypass policy

  3. Adding them to the steering config

Most clients have used option 3 above. To bypass the URLs from the steering config:

  1. Login to the Netskope Portal.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Security Cloud Platform > Steering Configuration > Default tenant config

  4. Click on Exceptions and add the URLs as shown in the details above.
