Professional User means a User that has the right to perform activities using the Services, beyond that of a General User. The additional activities that a Professional User can perform include any of the following:
Be assigned as the Default Reviewer of any document type, or;
Manage legal matters (assign, be assigned, change status or priority), or;
Perform any administrative function on the platform (user, role, organisation management, document list customisation, branding, matter management configuration, Approve & eSign settings control, delegation rules and custom questions).
The professional user is a chargeable licence, charged per person that meets the definition. A user only needs to have a minimum of one of the above in order to be classified as a professional user.
Default reviewer
Default reviewer provides the ability to Review files of each document type where a document workflow uses the default reviewers.
You can view the whether a role is assigned as the default reviewer to any document types under the document types tab in the role settings.
Note that the permission specifies that a Professional user is one that is assigned Default Reviewer on any document type.
Manage legal matters
Legal teams have the ability to triage matters as a lawyer, including the ability to prioritise matters and assign matters to other users in the system. Whilst regular business users will be able to see the changes, it's only these nominated legal users who can initiate that change.
From the Matter categories tab, you'll see a list of users directly under the heading for Legal team. These are the users in the platform that have the Manage legal matters permission.
Administrative functions
The admin permission allows a user to access a range of administrative functions on the platform. The process for auditing a customer’s instance will vary depend on whether it is an older customer with the legacy permission set up or the updated functional permission sets.
For newer customers, the account administration permission is consolidated under one functional permission, “Access account administration”. You will only need to validate if this item is ticked in the list of permissions.
