Entry into a trade promotion must be 'free'. This essentially means you are unable to ask people to pay for an entry into a competition. E.g. purchase a ticket into a lottery as this would be unlawful in Australia.

However, you may ask people to purchase a product to enter a competition where the price of the product is not inflated above the normal price at which you would normally sell the product.
