Background

Plexus users are assigned to different levels of the organisation's hierarchy. With the right permissions, the placement on the organisation's hierarchy will determine a user's visibility of documents and matters throughout the platform. Users can be allocated to the company structure by a user with administrative access.

When a colleague invites their team member to use Plexus, that team member will automatically join the same organisation unit as their peer. Invited users will be assigned the default role that's specified for the organisation to allow, in most cases, only a basic level of access within Plexus.

However, there are two other mechanisms whereby a user can join the platform without an invite:

In both of these circumstances, an administrator will be notified, and can manually correct their level of access if necessary. However in the meantime, Plexus needs a way to auto-assign users to the right base permissions so that these users can start using the platform.

Plexus will auto-assign these users with:

  • A default role in the platform

  • A default organisation unit in the platform

This guide will highlight how to set a default organisation unit in the platform.

Setting up a default organisation unit

To add or update the default unit on your Plexus company structure, click the Settings menu, then click Account. The first tab will show your Company structure. This is where you will be able to see and update a default organisation unit in the platform.

Click the desired unit and tick the button to the right of the page to Make default organisation unit for new users. Then click Save.

Read and confirm your changes using the on-screen prompts.

Plexus will show the new default organisation unit in blue.
