Lottery and Gaming Regulations 2008 (SA), under Section 31(c) and Section 32(c) specifies that each entry must give rise to an equal chance of winning a prize.

Therefore, if one person enters 3 times and 2 of those entries win a prize, they must be awarded those prizes as these are separate entries regardless of if they are made by the same person. The only way a person can be restricted to one prize is if the promotion is limited to one entry per person.

Based on the above, if you are including a limit of 1 prize per person for a trade promotion running in SA you must exclude SA residents from this limit.

I.e. if there are multiple prizes to be won, SA residents must be eligible to win more than 1 prize if they are allowed to enter more than once.

The SA trade promotion regulatory body requires this exclusion to be outlined in the terms and if this is not included they may not approve the terms and issue a permit.

NB: this limit only applies for a game of chance promotion conducted in SA and does not apply to a game of skill promotion.
