Running a promotion on TikTok
Age Restriction
To sign up to TikTok you must be at least 13 years of age. As a result, any promotion run on TikTok must be open to persons of at least 13 years old.
You can choose to increase the age limit for entry e.g. 18yrs+. A higher age limit may be required based on the product and prize advertised e.g. if promoting an alcohol product it must be 18yrs+.
TikTok Terms of Use
Unlike other social media platforms, TikTok does not have any specific terms to comply with when conducting a promotion on TikTok.
However, TikTok general terms for use of the platform apply, as available at https://www.tiktok.com/legal/terms-of-use?lang=en.
Other Considerations
Use a unique hashtag to track entries. The best way to track entries for a TikTok contest is by using a unique hashtag. Any post that is made during the promotional period that has the pre-determined hashtag is then considered an entry.
Limit the length of each video for your contest. Ensure you include a limit of the length of the video to be uploaded for entry. You don’t want to be in the position to watch lengthy videos to determine winners. No longer than three minutes is usually more than enough time to evaluate the quality of an entry.
